Recipe Inspiration: Apple Hill® Cake#
Once you’ve filled your basket with crisp apples, why not bring the taste of Apple Hill Growers into your own kitchen? This easy, old-fashioned apple cake is moist, fragrant with cinnamon and nutmeg, and perfect for sharing after your day in the orchards.
Ingredients#
2 cups sugar
½ cup oil
2 eggs
4 cups diced apples
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon nutmeg
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1½ cups chopped walnuts
Preparation#
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9”x13” pan.
2. In a large bowl, stir together sugar, oil, and eggs until well mixed.
3. Add in diced apples and nuts.
4. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt. Stir into apple mixture until just combined (do not overmix).
5. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 1 hour, or until golden and set.
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce for the ultimate fall dessert.#
