It’s officially summer and what goes better with warm days and sunshine than berries? Patrick’s Berry Farm and Garden grows more than 20 varieties of berries and many other mountain-grown crops. Right now, many of those berries are ready to pick right off the vine. You’ll find familiar boysenberries and blackberries, but have you tried tayberries and marionberries? Patrick’s is also harvesting red currents, loganberries and olallieberries this month. Delightfully juicy and intensely sweet – this is the best time to try new varieties or stock up on your favorites! Visitors are invited to stop by the farm for a you-pick experience weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. No reservations are required but it’s a good idea to come out early and beat the heat. Patrick’s is taking all the social distancing precautions to make sure guests can be at least six feet apart. There are 10 acres of berries to pick from and the rows are about 300 feet long so it’s easy to stay away from other visitors. For more information on what’s being harvested at Patrick’s Berry Farm follow @patricksgardens on Instagram.
For another option, Goodness Orchard is open by reservation for you-pick blackberries. Face masks are required. You can make a reservation by calling 530-644-6448. The farm is open on Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
