Our farms are starting to wake up from their winter slumber! Despite the late chill, Apple Hill is really starting to show its Spring colors!
Our apple blossoms are still weeks away from their spectacular beauty, but we are seeing blossoms on the few almond trees dotting our farms as well as a few fruit trees like pears. The vibrant daffodils are stealing the show right now! We’ve been especially in awe of those cheery yellow flowers at Starfield Vineyards, Apple Hill Growers’ newest winery set to open late May or June. There are 15,000 daffodils scattered throughout property!!!!
Work to be Done!
Many Apple Hill vineyards are still being pruned. Even though you may see some vines pushing buds in places like Napa or the valley, up here vines are much slower to push new growth thanks to this lingering cool season and higher elevation. Lambing season is in full swing at Apple Blossom Farm and keeping the Delfino family busy! The babydoll sheep will have an important job keeping grass down in the orchards and vineyards.
Spring Sippin’
And of course anytime is a great time to soak in Apple Hill beauty but we are certainly fond of sipping in the Spring sunshine!
