Three Apple Hill wineries begin wine service this month! Apple Hill Growers’ farms and wineries have had to change the way they operate to be in accordance with state and local shelter in place guidelines. Starting this week, area wineries will be able to open for wine service if accompanied by a meal.
Fenton Herriott Vineyards is now offering wine flights and delicious food. In order to comply with California’s COVID 19 guidelines, they’ll be serving by reservation only and limiting seating and visiting times. In addition to sampling the new wines, guests can enjoy a variety of menu options including tri tip sandwiches, cheeseburgers and salads. Contact the winery by phone or email to reserve a spot
Apple Hill’s newest winery, Edio Vineyards, is now welcoming guests. Reservations will be required for a food and wine pairing from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays. The culinary experience will pair Edio Vineyards wines with Joan’s Apple Bakery bread and a cheese and charcuterie board from The Grazing Grouse, a local caterer. Reservations can be made online or by email. Edio Vineyards’ full tasting room will be opening as soon as the state mandates allow.
Madrona Vineyards will host its Annual Open House, El Dorado County’s oldest consecutively celebrated winery event. The 40-year-old event will be held on Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31 with modifications. All tastings will be by reservation only and wine flights will be served with a meal, outside on the winery property. Tastings are designed for four to six people
and will last one hour. All social distancing and cleaning guidelines will be followed. Guests can contact the winery for reservations.
Starfield Vineyards has started to reopen to wine club members by appointment only. They’ll be serving wine, by the bottle or glass, and food on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Traditional tastings will not be available, but members will receive a complimentary glass of the current wine club release with their lunch order. The winery is offering to-go wine sales and access to the property’s idyllic nature trails from Tuesdays to Thursdays, also by reservation. However, in accordance with ABC guidelines, alcohol consumption will not be allowed on the property on those days. Wine club members can call 530-748-3085 ext. 500 to make reservations. Starfield hopes to extend the invitation to non-wine club members in the coming weeks.
Apple Hill’s other wineries, whose tasting rooms are unable to open right now, are still taking orders for curbside pickup so you can still get your favorite bottles to take home.
“We’re very excited to be moving back to business as usual as soon as the state and county say it’s safe,” said Chris Delfino of Delfino Farms and president of the Apple Hill Growers Association. “We’re eager to have visitors back to our farms and tasting rooms to continue to share our incredible farm products and wines again.”
Other Apple Hill Growers products are available online. 24Carrot Farm’s online Farmers Market lets you select fresh produce and flowers from their farm, Flying V Farm and other El Dorado County farms. Just order and pay online and pick up and to order and pay online, then simply drive up for easy pick-up. You can also find El Dorado County produce at Sacramento and Bay Area farmers markets.
